Mean Girls Research...

A link to a mean girls website i found.. it's really interesting the way they publish there website.. it's lay out is like a magazine.. and also has music matching with the genre of the film played in the background. Main features are to attracts to female teenagers as it has things like horoscopes, how to be a mean girl , it has images, music to download and much more...

Audience - The audience is differnt individuals or groups targeted by the film producers as the consumers of the film. it's generally the people whom the film is targeted towards. Mean girls is a chick flick which is mainly targeted at teenage girls.

Genre - The genre is a caterogaory of media proiducts classed as being similar in form and type. ei. of genres are Films, magazines and television also the types of them and form such as televison progrramme documentaries. The genre for Mean girls is Drama comedy, classified under Chick flick (teen movie).

Idelogy- Ideology is a beliefs and values of something by a group of people who discuss what they think about a media text and the particular way of life including values and beliefs.

Key Concepts - Key Concepts is the main focusses on all the media studies, this includes focusinng on all aspects of audience, genre, ideology, institutions, language, narrative and represnetation.

Protagnist- Protagnists is the main character the hero of the film, this is selected by the audience whom the hero is, and from whose point of view the scene is focussed on, they would normally use this on a binary opposition against the antagonist. In Mean girls they uses Lindsay Lohan ( Cady) as the protagnist the hero of the film and Regina as the antagonist ( binary oppositions).

POV- Point of view shot is where the audience identify the scene from the charaters Prospects. Such as Lindsay lohan tells her story so it's shown from her POV in most scenes.

McGuffin- McGuffin is a term used by Alfred Hitchcock for red herring or distracting, irrelevant plot detail, which grabs viewers attention away from the main event occuring by making it to be improtant and turing it to be irrelevant.

Target audience - The target audience is main audience that the media text is aimed towards. Mean girls main target audience is teenage girls, buh as secondary it is also a family film as it's genre is drama comedy which could be targeted at family.

Sterotype - This is the social classification of a group of people identifyed as a common characterists. Such as 'dumb' blonde, this is used in mean girls as the girls are stated as 'Mean' girls and are 'dumb' blondes.

Voice over- The voice over is a actors voice over the film. In Mean girls the Voice over is Lindsay Lohan as she tells her story...

Mean girlz Clip

This is a clip from the film Mean girls, directed by Mark S Walters. The genre of the film is drama comedy/ chick flick.
the opening of the clip starts as the 4 plastics they are arguing over how ragina can not sit on the table because she is wearinf the wrong clothes.. as htey match clothes for each day... close shots are shown as the audience gets to see the facial expressions of the four girls, humour is also shown in the scene too this is used to brake down the seriousness of the issue. comments are made showing the bitchness, which makes regina feel low as one student calls her fat ass.
There is also a narrator, which is Lindsay Lohan telling the story from her point of view.
The costumes the girls wear are all matching for each day as they all wear skirts.
the music played during the clip is all parallel sounds to the scenes...

Throught out the film you see what teenage girls get up too. As a typical steroytype of girls would be, when parents gone away they through a house party. You see whatthey actually get up to as they drink, you see romance in the clip between Cady and Aran.
Todrovian is created as there alot of disequillbrium is shown in this clip and cady realsies her mistakes as her mates and and the boy she likes start to dislike her for who shes turned into...
what she's doing to herself just to be someone she is not.

Chick Flick - A chick flick is a film which is targeted at female teenagers.
chcik flicks main purpose is to entertain, with a bit of romance. it usually focusses mostly on teenage girls lifestyles... Mean girls is targeted towards teenage girls...

Equillibrium - Equillibrium is a a narrative which starts of balanced.

Disequillbrium - Disequillibrium is when the equillirium is challenged by an event causing it to unbalance the film.

Resolution- This is the conclusion of a problem occured during the film which then gets resolved in the end.

Flashbacks - Flashbacks is when they show a scene of were the narrartive would go back in time and show what occured in the past...flashbacks occur throughtout the film...

Hero- a hero is a female or male protagnist in the film, which is identified by the audience as more dominated ideology, some one as the good person in the film...the hero of the film would be Lindsay Lohan...

Mise en scéne- A Mise en scéne is french for put in the picture/scene. it is for everything to be put in the frame. This include Costumes Lighting Actors Makeup Props Setting... the costumes worn are girly, pink, and all the plastics match there clothes, the lighting is high key lighting on the 4 main girls, the actors are Lindsay Lohan,... and the settin gis based in school...

Propp - (Propp Viadimir 1995 - 1970)the propp is the charcters role and narrative... This includes hero, villians, the helper of the hero, fake hero, a princess etc... the hero being Cady and villian Regina...

Romantic comedy- This is a film genre which the 2 main protagnists male and female happen to fall in love with eachother. Cady and th emost popular boy...

Split screen -A split screen is a editing technique, this is where the screen is split into 2 or more showing the same scene in one frame...with all the girls on the phone to eachother this is when shown in splitscreen...
